Quartz glass is classified into three types based on its spectral characteristics: JGS1, JGS2, and JGS3. Quartz glass is made by melting various pure natural quartz materials such as crystal and quartz sand.
From the perspective of optical applications: Quartz glass features an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, high temperature resistance, excellent chemical stability, superior electrical insulation, low and stable ultrasonic delay performance, the best ultraviolet spectral transmission performance as well as visible and near-infrared spectral transmission performance, and has mechanical properties superior to those of ordinary glass.
The coefficient of linear expansion is extremely small, being 1/10 to 1/20 of that of ordinary glass, and it has excellent thermal shock resistance. It has a very high heat resistance, with a common operating temperature of 1100 to 1200° C and a short-term operating temperature up to 1400° C. Quartz glass is mainly used in laboratory equipment and extraction equipment for special high-purity products. Due to its high spectral transmission, it will not be damaged by radiation (other glasses will darken after being exposed to radiation).
